Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on April 26th on the 26th of March, 1991. She is an American singer-songwriter and the first artist signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. In October 2016 Ari Lennox dropped her EP Pho. It was here that she was recognized. Her debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music online in the year 2012, when she released her debut mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. She continued to upload her tracks online through 2014, which included the self-released single Bound. On July 21 2015 Omen featured her on his album Elephant Eyes on the track Sweat it Out. In the following year, her music was circulating throughout the Dreamville group as J. Cole wanted her to collaborate with him on some possible references for Rihanna. On the 8th of December, it was announced that she was signed to Dreamville Records. Backseat was her contribution to The Revenge of the Dreamers II album. The 21st of October, 2016, the EP Pho debuted. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change and also performed as part of The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as an opening act. In 2018, she was able to guest feature on two of her songs along with labelmates EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first song Whipped Cream from Shea Butter Baby on July 16th. A music clip was followed by a video in September. In November, she released the singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. On November 13 she then came out with two additional singles, The No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released in her debut single February 26, 2019, to accompany the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby performed along with Cole in her Creed II sound track on November 16. In February her music video to the track was launched. The song has received more than three million YouTube views in just a single week. She was part of 6LACK's From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December the year 2018.
